ABOUT MARIA

Elected to the Palm Beach Gardens City Council in 2016 Maria become the City’s Mayor in 2017 and again in 2018. As Maria’s tenure on City Council continues, the City has experienced lower tax rates, 2,400 acres have been dedicated to conservation helping to restore the flow of over 100,000 acres at no expense to the tax payer and a new 80 acre district park has opened.  With these additions, the total amount of green space in the City now exceeds 50%. 

Maria represents the City on numerous county and statewide boards including the Palm Beach County League of Cities, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and she is the new Chair of the Palm Beach County Transportation Planning Agency.  Also, Maria is a 2019 Women of Excellence Award Honoree awarded by the National Foundation of Women Legislators.

The 2017 “Woman of the Year” by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Maria is Chair of the Chamber’s Smart and Connected Regions Task Force, sits on several subcommittees and is a Past Trustee Member.

Maria is the Broker/Owner of Marino Realty Group and serves as the Executive Director of the Jupiter Children’s Foundation.  This small foundation has raised over $2,000,000 for the underserved children of Jupiter since its inception in 2001.

With a strong belief in community and philanthropy, she lends her talents to many initiatives targeted at enriching the lives of at-risk youth and building business relationships that benefit those in need.

Maria lends her talents to many public initiatives targeted at enriching the lives of at-risk youth and fostering business relationships that benefit underserved populations.

Currently, Maria is a Board Member of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, the Children’s Golf Foundation, The First Tee of the Palm Beaches and the Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center which serves 107 at-risk youth.  She serves as an advisor and motivational speaker for many local non-profit agencies  including the Student ACE’s program and the Suits for Seniors Program. This year she will serve on the 2020 Go Red for Women Luncheon Board and the 2020 Melanoma Foundation Luncheon Board where she will again serve as the Melanoma Foundation Luncheon Mistress of Ceremony.   Maria is also a Co-Chair of Palm Beach County Cares, an agency dedicated to disaster relief.

Maria is an Ambassador of the Honda Classic, a Graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County Class of 2010, has served on the Board of Directors, chaired several committees and was a 2015 Leadership Excellence Award Finalist. 

A native of Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Maria won the State Women’s Amateur Golf Championship in 1985.  She came to Florida to improve her golf skills and never left the Sunshine State.

Still a golf professional, Maria has been a member and mentor with the LPGA since 1994, where she served on the Association’s National Marketing Committee and as Southeast Section Treasurer. 

Maria’s next chapter: Candidate for Palm Beach County Commission, District 1.  The Election is November 3. 2020.

  • Working with the Opioid Task Force to continue to fight this crisis
  • Promoting open, transparent and accessibly County government
